Hawaiian Islands Family Vacation - Oahu - Day 3

January 11

Day 3 of our vacation was full of adventures. We drove through the middle of the island to get to the north shore. Along the way we stopped at a coffee plantation. On the north shore, we experienced some unexpected big waves and did not get to go into the ocean as expected. We later learned that the north shore has big waves in the winter and is not ideal for swimming/snorkeling. It still turned out to be a fun experience. We strolled through a farmers market, watched some whales and surfers, the kids played in the sand, drank pineapple juice from a fresh pineapple and coconut water from fresh coconut, climbed some trees, saw a sea turtle and a peacock.
Back on the south side of the island, at that night we went downtown Waikiki and walked along the streets among thousands of other tourists. It was crowded! We looked up close at some Tesla cars, the kids picked out oysters and got pearls, we ate a late dinner at PF Changs and then headed back to the hotel for some rest.
