From July through August for six weeks, Monday-Thursday, Esperanza had swim lessons at the Camas Pool. It was a mid morning class so it felt like a huge chunk of our summer days were very much limited with this one activity. We couldn't do much before class, but also not much after because it was lunch time then Ezra's nap time. But worth it, it was! Esperanza gained so much confidence and water safety skills being in the water on such a regular basis. She was a fish! The instructors sometimes had a hard time getting her out of the pool when the lessons were over. She was always the last one out and never happy about having to leave. She loves the water!! There were many days that we would leave the pool and go straight to the river too. Her lessons were actually two different leveled classes, 3 weeks each, back to back. She advanced very quickly, as she had already passed the basics of level 2 during the first week. Level 3 was a breeze as well. By the end of the classes, I saw her doggy paddle with confidence all by her self without a life jacket on in the big pool!!! Money well spent! We will definitely be doing swim lessons here again next year.
The pool is on the same grounds/property as Crown Park. Just steps away from the entrance/exit to the pool are swings and other playground equipment. This was perfect since I would drop Esperanza off and be left with keeping Ezra entertained for the duration of the swim lesson. Before and after the lessons, the kids spent a lot of time playing here this past summer. This was during the same time that Armando was building a house which was literally right across the street from the pool which was very convenient at times. Great memories all around! I even have my own memories as a child going to this pool to swim and playing on this exact same playground equipment.
