Grandpa George is still in the Vancouver based Veterans Rehabilitation Center. He went there several weeks ago when a wound on his backside wasn't healing at home and became infected. We were all worried when we were told the infection had spread to his spine, but then reassured that the doctors would treat it aggressively with antibiotics and the best of care. After weeks of high doses of antibiotics, wonderful treatment and care at the center then a week+ stay at a different hospital to drain fluids from his heart after a false heart attack scare, then back to the Rehab Center for more great care.....his doctor has given finally him and his family an update on his condition. His wound and the infection will never heal.
I do not have any specific information, other than that; he won't heal. He will go home soon though we are told. I will keep updating as we know more.
The kids, Armando and I went to visit him a few days ago. There is an amazing park just down the road from where he is so we stopped there first, hoping we'd burn off some of the kids' energy before requiring them to sit quietly inside of a hospital room.
this kid was up and running around the facility after only moments of sitting. Silly kid. He won the hearts of all the staff.
